TORONTO, November 6, 2025 – The Toyota GR86 lights up city streets this year with an all-new, limited production model – the Yuzu Edition, featuring a performance package wrapped in an eye-catching yellow body with black accents and wheels. This vibrant special edition pays tribute to the GR86’s predecessor – the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0 – while unleashing the performance and balance that has made TOYOTA GAZOO RACING a legend on the international racing circuit.
“Toyota is committed to offering a broad choice of vehicles – including compelling models that channel the spirit of tuner culture for those who love to drive,” said Robert Tsang, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “The GR86 is an authentic sports car, ready for the track but equally comfortable for everyday driving. And this year, our Yuzu Edition expresses that with powerful style statement backed by performance enhancements that reinforce its already undeniable sportiness on the road."
To create the GR86, TOYOTA GAZOO RACING applied lessons from the world’s top racing and rallying circuits. The result is a sport coupe defined by weight-saving high-strength materials, impressive power, and track-honed aerodynamics.
Every GR86 model is built around a naturally aspired 2.4L Flat-4 boxer engine featuring Toyota’s innovative D-4S dual injection system and a 12.5:1 compression ratio for maximum power. This powerhouse delivers up to 228 horsepower and hits peak torque of 184 lb-ft at just 3,700 RPM – delivering powerful and sustained acceleration right off the line. A Torsen limited slip differential enhances traction for better cornering.
The GR86 is offered in a choice of six-speed manual transmission or six-speed automatic with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
The GR86 features a light yet exceptionally stiff chassis, double wishbone rear suspension, highly responsive electric power steering, and an active rear sport differential. These combine to create an engaging drive on everyday roads while delivering impressive lap times at the track. The hood, front fenders, and roof panel are lightweight aluminum to keep weight down, making the GR86 one of the lightest sports cars Toyota builds.
The body features a wide stance with a low centre of gravity, with aggressive styling that’s designed to cheat the wind and elevate performance. Design flairs such as air intakes, side sill spoilers, and rear wheel arch fins increase downforce to enhance grip.
Inside, the cabin features a 2+2 seating configuration with deeply bolstered front seats that keep driver and navigator comfortable on long drives, and firmly planted during spirited manoeuvres. The driver-focussed cockpit features optimally-positioned instrumentation and controls. All elements are designed with spirited driving in mind: for example, the GR86 uses toggles for many switches to provide tactile control and feedback, enabling the driver to keep their eyes on the road. Drivers can toggle the digital instrumentation between multiple modes – including a Track setting, which presents real-time readouts of data such as gear position and engine speed to aid in instant decision-making.
Every GR86 is also equipped with a six-speaker audio system and a multimedia system that keeps the driver in touch with the people and things that matter. All models include an eight-inch touchscreen display to interact with the Remote Connect, Safety Connect, and Service Connect features. This display audio system also features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity, USB inputs, and integrated Sirius XM Satellite radio.
Every GR86 also comes with an impressive package of safety features. An Active Safety Suite uses a stereo camera to monitor the road head, enabling features such as Pre-Collision Braking, Active Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Sway Warning, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, automatic high beams, an automatic parking brake, backup camera, seven airbags, and an anti-theft system.
