TORONTO, August 17, 2026 – The Toyota bZ hits the sweet spot for Canadians seeking a zero emissions vehicle that balances everyday comfort, striking design, electric exhilaration and SUV practicality. It’s ready for the real world – and with a choice of three grades built around two powertrains, there’s a bZ for everyone.

“The bZ is one of three battery-electric models offered to Canadians within the Toyota lineup, alongside 15 hybrid and two plug-in hybrid models. As the industry’s only full-line automaker, Toyota is uniquely positioned to offer Canadians a broad range of electrified vehicle choices,” said Steve Pilkey, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Toyota Canada Inc. “Our multi-pathway approach gives customers the breadth of choice and flexibility to choose the powertrain that best fits their needs and lifestyle.”

The 2027 bZ features two battery-electric powertrains that deliver instant torque, plus smooth, seamless acceleration for an engaging driving experience. The front-wheel-drive XLE is powered by a 57.7 kWh battery delivering 168 system horsepower and a range of up to 380 kilometers, while the all-wheel-drive models feature a 77-kWh battery that delivers 338 system horsepower and a range of up to 468 kilometres.

All bZ models are built on Toyota’s e-TNGA platform, which positions the high-capacity lithium-ion battery low in the chassis to optimize the vehicle’s centre of gravity and boost driving dynamics. Independent Macpherson strut front suspension and independent double wishbone rear suspension enhance the experience by increasing the driver’s sense of command and control.

The bZ is equipped with the North American Charging System (NACS) for access to most high-speed chargers across North America. Under ideal conditions, DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. Meantime, Plug & Charge enables automatic billing identification while a battery preconditioning system enables consistent charge times in colder weather. New this year, every bZ receives CCS and J1772 charging adapters for added charging convenience and flexibility.

Curbside, the 2027 bZ cuts a striking figure – merging refined styling with the robust and confident stance of an SUV. Notable exterior features include bi-LED projector headlights, LED front turn signals, daytime running lights, and rear combination lamps, power-adjustable and folding heated mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers with de-icers. Meanwhile, available details such as distinctive wheel treatments, colour-matched overfenders, black accents, and available two-tone styling help differentiate grades and personalize the vehicle’s appearance.

Inside, the cabin is inviting and roomy, with plenty of space for up to five adults. Notable standard features include two-zone automatic climate control, front and rear 64-colour ambient lighting systems, and a cargo area lamp. Drivers will appreciate the Softex-clad and heated steering wheel, paddle shifters, and digital gauge cluster, where controls and gauges carefully placed within natural sightlines. The bZ is also an impressive cargo-hauler, with 60/40 split fold-flat second-row seats and a cargo volume of 784 L behind the second row. It also features a reclining front passenger seat that maximize versatility and space, plus a power back door with kick sensor for hands-free operation that makes access a breeze.

Every 2027 bZ is impressively equipped with state-of-the-art technology – headlined by the Toyota Multimedia system, including Safety Connect, Service Connect, Remote Connect, and Drive Connect and a 14-inch display. This bundle of smart connectivity technologies helps keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features a Toyota interface that improves interaction between driver and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. Other notable technology features standard on all grades include three USB charging ports, Sirius XM Satelllite radio, dual wireless charging docks for smartphones, and a digital key.

Every bZ is also standard equipped with an impressive suite of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 – designed to support driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, eight airbags, the rear seat reminder system, a backup camera with back guide monitor, the Blind Spot Monitor system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Assist, and an anti-theft alarm system with engine immobilizer.
