TORONTO, January 5, 2026 – Seeing very strong demand for its electrified vehicles, Toyota Canada Inc.’s (TCI) positive sales momentum continued in 2025, pushing the company to an all-time vehicles sales record of 249,445 vehicles sold.
Both Toyota (216,258 units sold) and Lexus (33,187 units sold) set annual sales records. Notably, Lexus marked its 35th year in Canada with a third record year in a row.

Record electrified vehicles sales continue to lead the way for both Toyota and Lexus
Electrified vehicles continued to lead the way for TCI in 2025, with 123,886 units sold, up 5.4% year over year and representing 49.7% of all 2025 sales.
Toyota division sold a record 104,620 electrified vehicles in 2025, up 2.9% year over year and representing 48.4% of Toyota’s total sales for 2025.
Of note was the strong demand for affordable electrified sedans with Toyota Corolla Hybrid (up 27.3% YOY) and Toyota Camry Hybrid (up 101.5% YOY) both setting annual records.
Lexus followed its all-time record years in 2023 and 2024 with another annual electrified vehicle sales record, selling 19,266 electrified vehicles in 2025, representing 58.1% of its total sales for 2025 and up 21.2% year over year.
Helped by strong sales of Prius PHEV, RAV4 PHEV and Lexus NX 450h+, a total of 20,742 Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV, comprised of EV, PHEV and FCEV) units were among the electrified Toyota and Lexus vehicles sold during 2025.
Sales momentum for TCI’s electrified vehicles is expected to continue in 2026, with strong demand for the new battery-electric Toyota C-HR and Toyota bZ, for the Lexus RZ, and for the RAV4 PHEV and Prius PHEV, along with rapidly growing hybrid electric vehicles sales.
Strong momentum heading into 2026
TCI sold a record 249,445 units in 2025, up 4.4% YOY. December accounted for 17,172 units sold, down 11.7% from December 2024.
Toyota division sold a record 216,258 units in 2025, up 3.4% YOY. It sold 14,707 units in December, down 13.9% from its record December 2024.
Lexus division ended 2025 as its best year ever in Canada for the third in a row, with 33,187 units sold, up 11.7% YOY., It also set a December sales record, selling 2,465 units in December, up 4.1% from December 2024.
RAV4: Once again, Canada’s best-selling passenger vehicle (non-pick-up-truck)
With 75,573 units sold in 2025, the Toyota RAV4 continues to be the best-selling passenger vehicle in Canada.
Other Toyota and Lexus models registered significant overall sales in 2025, including:
- Toyota RAV4 (75,573 units sold – best-selling non-pick-up-truck in Canada)
- Toyota Prius family (up 51.9% YOY – second best year ever)
- Toyota Corolla Cross (up 15.5% YOY – annual record)
- Toyota Corolla Hybrid (up 27.3% YOY – annual record)
- Toyota Camry Hybrid (up 101.5% YOY – annual record)
- Toyota Tacoma family (up 54.1% YOY – annual record)
- Toyota Sequoia Hybrid (up 1.6% YOY – annual record)
- Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid (up 131.4% YOY – annual record)
- Toyota Sienna Hybrid (up 28.5% YOY – annual record & becomes the best-selling minivan in Canada)
- Lexus UX Hybrid (up 7.0% YOY)
- Lexus NX family (up 26.9% YOY – annual record)
- Lexus NX PHEV (up 73.2% – annual record)
- Lexus RX family (up 3.6% YOY)
- Lexus RX PHEV (up 57.8% YOY – annual record)
- Lexus TX Hybrid (up 89.0% YOY – annual record)
- Lexus GX (up 86.4% YOY – annual record)
Assembled-in-Canada vehicles in high demand
The assembled-in-Canada RAV4, continued to be the best-selling passenger vehicle in Canada in 2025, with its second-best year of sales. Also assembled in Canada, the Lexus NX had a record year, and sales of the Lexus RX continued to grow.
58.4% of Lexus vehicles sold in Canada last year were assembled in Canada.
With 537,518 vehicles assembled in 2025, an increase of nearly 4,000 units over 2024, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada continues to be Canada’s largest automotive manufacturer.
