TORONTO, March 5, 2026The all-new 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid is headed for Toyota Canada dealers, delivering capability, comfort, and cutting-edge technologies – plus the remarkable performance and efficiency of Toyota’s industry-leading plug-in hybrid technology. With a new powertrain, the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid delivers more power and greater all-electric driving range than the previous model. Best of all, the all-new RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid starts at an MSRP below 2025 models.

“We’ve created four distinct, value-packed configurations of the new RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid – including the first-ever GR SPORT model. These join the seven RAV4 hybrid models already on sale to provide drivers with incredible choice when shopping for Canada’s most popular passenger vehicle,” said Robert Tsang, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “The RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid plays a key role in our multi-pathway approach to electrification. Alongside our high-volume hybrid models and expanding battery electric vehicle lineup, it gives Canadians more flexibility to lower emissions in a way that works for their everyday lives.”

Every 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid is a technology showcase – starting with its remarkable powertrain. This next-generation of Toyota’s proven PHEV technology combines a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, a larger drive battery, and high-output charger, boosting power by 22 hp over the previous generation, to 324 system net horsepower. Toyota engineers have also boosted the all-electric driving range to a Manufacturer-estimated 80 kilometres*. All grades also feature all-wheel drive for improved all-weather performance, while SE and XSE grades are rated to tow up to 3,500 lbs.

The 2026 model year introduces the first-ever member of the RAV4 family to be developed in partnership with Toyota GAZOO Racing. As with other models in Toyota’s GR line up, this exciting RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid further enhances its already exhilarating powertrain with GR-tuned handling, to appeal to the many Canadians who already turn to RAV4 for maximum fun. To complement its GR performance, Toyota designers have given this model unique, more aggressive exterior styling to match.

All models also showcase their technology credentials via the Toyota Multimedia system. This bundle of smart connectivity technologies is all new for 2026, with 5G Connectivity, a customizable home screen with widgets, personalized user profiles, dual Bluetooth pairing, an on-board Toyota Assistant, and more. Toyota Multimedia helps keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features Toyota’s newest interface, which improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. Many functions may be controlled via the touch screen via the same gestures used on mobile phone screens.

The RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid’s style emphasizes its technologically advanced character with a modern body design that’s expressive yet purposeful in every respect – from handling, corner, and cabin comfort, to safety, efficiency, and all-around visibility. All models feature a power moon roof, power back door, grade-specific alloy wheels, LED headlamps, and rain-sensing wipers.

Inside, the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid welcomes driver and up to four other passengers to a spacious and comfortable cabin. Here again, technology and style ubiquitous. This new generation offers more cargo capacity and versatility and previous RAV4 models, plus 60/40 split fold-flat rear seats and plenty of thoughtful in-cabin storage. All models feature heated front seats, power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, five USB-C ports, and Toyota’s Smart Key System with Push Button Start.

Every RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 – the newest configuration of Toyota’s suite of active safety technologies and capabilities that supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, and the Blind Spot Monitor system with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Assist.
