Toyota is conducting a recall involving certain Toyota vehicles

TORONTO, September 2, 2026 – Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain model year 2026 Toyota C-HR vehicles. Approximately 1,310 vehicles are involved in this recall in Canada.

Regenerative braking operation helps charge the drive battery in the subject vehicles. Under certain conditions when the battery has a high level of charge, regenerative braking can cause the battery to become overcharged due to a software issue. If this occurs, the electric drive system can shut down, causing a loss of motive power. A loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds can increase the risk of a crash.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will update the software of the Battery Electric Vehicle Electronic Control Unit.

Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by early November 2026.
