Toyota is conducting a recall involving certain Toyota vehicles

TORONTO, October 7, 2026 – Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain model year 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid vehicles. Approximately 7,846 vehicles are involved in this recall in Canada.

A fault can occur in an electronic control unit (ECU) for the plug-in hybrid system in the subject vehicles and can cause the system to shut down while driving. This can lead to a loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds and increase the risk of a crash.

All known owners of the subject vehicles will be notified to return their vehicle to a Toyota dealer. Toyota dealers will update the software of the affected ECU, free of charge.

Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by early December 2026.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter. For the most up-to-date Safety Recall Information on Toyota and Lexus vehicles, customers should check their vehicle’s status by visiting Toyota.ca/recall or Lexus.ca/recall and entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
