Updated: Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain Toyota vehicles

TORONTO, March 5, 2026 – Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain model year 2021 to 2025 Toyota Highlander and Highlander Hybrid vehicles. Approximately 12,853 vehicles have been added to the recall in Canada, for a total involved population of approximately 52,750 vehicles involved in this recall in Canada.

The recliner assemblies in the second-row seats may not fully lock after seat back adjustment. A seat back that has not been secured in a locked position may fail to properly restrain occupants, increasing the risk of injury in the event of a crash at higher speeds.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will replace the return springs in the recliner assemblies with improved ones, at no cost.

Owners of involved vehicles in the expanded population identified will be notified by late September 2026.
