Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain Toyota vehicles

TORONTO, May 20, 2026 – Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain model year 2024 Toyota Tundra non-hybrid vehicles. Approximately 3,734 vehicles are involved in this recall in Canada.

There is a possibility that certain machining debris may not have been cleared from the engine when it was produced. In the involved vehicles, this can lead to potential engine knocking, engine rough running, engine no start and/or a loss of motive power. A loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds can increase the risk of a crash.

Toyota conducted two prior similar recalls. The first was in May 2024, and the second was in November 2025. The engines involved in this new recall were produced using additional controls for removing manufacturing debris. We have found that, even after these additional controls, the remaining debris could be sufficient to cause damage to the #1 main bearing and lead to this issue. Engines produced after those included in this recall were manufactured with an improved #1 main bearing to help resist certain debris that might remain.

Toyota is completing the remedy preparations for this safety recall and the one announced in November 2025. We aim to finalize these details within the next couple of months. When finalized, Toyota plans to contact customers in phases as the remedy becomes available for their vehicle. Remedy phases will generally be released based on vehicle time in service. In the meantime, owners with vehicles experiencing any symptoms should contact their Toyota dealer.

For the recall Toyota announced in May 2024, Toyota has already notified all customers directly about that remedy, and our dealers in Canada have already repaired more than 6,000 of the approximately 9,600 covered vehicles.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter.
