TORONTO, July 9, 2026 – The Toyota Corolla Hatchback is the compact hatch that delivers dynamic driving performance, athletic styling, impressive versatility and efficiency, and the technology that keeps Canadians connected on the go. New this year, the XSE grade is enhanced with a larger digital gauge cluster and Toyota Multimedia touchscreen.
“As Canada’s only full-line automaker, Toyota remains committed to offering Canadians the industry’s broadest range of choices – including compact cars that are impressively equipped and fun to drive,” said Steve Pilkey, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “Whether it’s the daily commute, a night on the town, or a weekend getaway, the Corolla Hatchback is the stylish, urban savvy, and value-packed hatch that does it all.”
The best compact hatches start with performance – and the Corolla Hatchback is designed from the road up to with agile, nimble driving in mind. It starts with the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), which integrates powertrain and chassis engineering to maximize dynamic handling. With its low centre of gravity, exceptional body rigidity, a multi-link rear suspension, and Active Cornering Assist, the Corolla Hatchback is a sporty performer, offering excellent driver feedback, quick response, and super stability. Under the hood, every Corolla Hatchback features a Dynamic Force 2.0 Litre four-cylinder engine equipped with high-pressure direct injection and other advanced engine technologies. This is mated to a Direct Shift CVT transmission with simulated 10-speed sequential shiftmatic steps, sport mode setting, and Launch Gear for punchier acceleration from a standing stop. This powertrain produces 169 peak horsepower while using just 6.8 litres per 100 kilometers (city/highway combined).
The Corolla Hatchback’s dynamic performance is matched by its equally athletic style – expressed through rally-car design that emphasizes its wide track, short overhangs, and sleek profile. Bi-beam LED headlamps highlight the aggressive front fascia styling, while a raked hatch with integrated spoiler and aerodynamic body diffuser accent the rear. Each model is finished with grade-specific detailing, including wheels.
Inside, the Corolla Hatchback offers a versatile cabin with seating for up to five adults. Front sport seats support driver and passenger during spirited manoeuvres, while a second-row bench seat splits 60/40 and folds when additional cargo capacity is required. Cabin finishes convey a premium look and feel through high-gloss accents, piano-black trim, and soft-touch materials. The driver’s instruments, gauges, and controls are thoughtfully arranged to ensure they’re within easy, intuitive reach.
Every Corolla Hatchback is also impressively equipped with state-of-the-art technology – headlined by the Toyota Multimedia system, including Safety Connect (5-year trial), Service Connect (5-year trial), and Remote Connect (5-year trial), plus a 3-month trial of Drive Connect. This bundle of smart connectivity technologies helps keep drivers informed and safe while simplifying their lives behind the wheel. Toyota Multimedia integrates wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and features a Toyota interface that improves interaction between people and vehicle through sight, touch, and voice. Many functions may be controlled via the touch screen via the same gestures used on mobile phone screens.
Every Corolla Hatchback also comes with an impressive package of safety features headlined by Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 – a suite of active safety technologies and capabilities that supports driver awareness and decision making to help reduce the potential for accidents. Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, a backup camera, automatic parking brake, and an anti-theft alarm system with engine immobilizer.
Toyota offers Canadians a choice of four Corolla Hatchback trim levels to suit a broad range of needs and desires:

The Corolla Hatchback SE Plus upgrades the SE trim level, adding 16-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the Blind Spot Monitor system with Safe Exit Assist.
The Corolla Hatchback SE Upgrade enhances the SE Plus model, adding larger, 18-inch alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, and a wireless charging dock for personal electronics.
