In A Class Of Its Own, Where Versatility and Efficiency Meet: The 2018 Toyota Prius v

Popular Canadian hybrid gets standard Toyota Safety Sense, a new 4.2” multi-information display and more upgrades on all models for 2018

TORONTO, ONTARIO, December 6th, 2017 – Meet the advanced crossover – the unique Toyota Prius v, which combines impressive space and versatility with equally impressive technology and fuel efficiency. New for 2018, all Prius v models are standard equipped with Toyota Safety Sense P, plus a new 4.2” multi-information display.

“Prius is the world’s most recognized name for advanced and efficient motoring, and the Prius v builds on that reputation – making it a very popular vehicle with Canadian drivers looking for the space of a small SUV with the efficiency of a hybrid,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc. “We’re pleased to introduce the 2018 Toyota Prius v, enhanced with additional advanced Toyota safety technologies, to give Canadians even more reasons to welcome this stylish, versatile and forward-thinking hybrid into their lives.”

Show off your advanced lifestyle, while bringing your lifestyle with you. The Toyota Prius v has a modern, sleek profile with a coefficient of drag of just 0.29 – meaning it slices through the wind for maximum efficiency and smoother, quieter driving. Notable exterior features include power adjustable and heated mirrors, a roof mounted spoiler, and more.

The Toyota Smart Key system means the driver door automatically unlocks when touched. Inside, there’s plenty of space for up to five adults, or lots of cargo: with 1.906 cubic meters (67.3 cubic feet) available behind the front seats, Prius v holds more than twice as much as the current Prius liftback. The modern cabin is generously appointed with advanced comfort and convenience features. New for 2018, the driver-focussed instrumentation now includes a 4.2” multi-information display – joining the Push Button Start, ECO Drive monitor, dual trip odometer, outside temperature gauge and other modern appointments. The rear seats recline for additional comfort, and split 60/40 to fold flat so the Prius v easily handles larger items.

Under the hood, the Prius v’s Hybrid Synergy Drive is built around a 1.8L Atkinson cycle four-cylinder engine with Variable Valve Timing with intelligence and other advanced systems to maximize both power and efficiency. The hybrid system generates 136 net horsepower plus impressive fuel efficiency of just 5.8L / 100km city/highway combined, while the continuously variable transmission gives Prius v quick and smooth acceleration. A four-mode Drive Mode Select system lets drivers choose between Normal, ECO, Power and EV mode, depending on their mood and road conditions.

The front-wheel-drive Prius v features responsive and efficient electric power steering, and rides on a suspension system featuring Macpherson gas struts and a stabilizer bar up front, and a stabilized torsion beam suspension at the rear.

Every Prius v also features a long list of active and passive safety systems as standard on all models, headlined by Toyota Safety Sense P. Standard on all Prius v models as of the 2018 model year, this bundle of advanced safety systems includes the Pre-Collision System… Dynamic Radar Cruise Control… Lane Departure Alert… and Automatic High Beams. Other features include the six active technologies of the Toyota Star Safety System, a vehicle proximity notification system, seven standard airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, a backup camera, anchor points for child restrain seats and child protector rear door locks, and more.

The Prius v is offered in a single, well-equipped model, which may be enhanced with a choice of upgrade packages, as follows:

The 2018 Toyota Prius v (Starting MSRP: $29,675) features a 6.1” Display Audio System with USB audio input, Bluetooth connectivity, six speakers and steering wheel-mounted audio controls.
