Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain Highlander vehicles

TORONTO, ON (March 19, 2020) – Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain 2020 model year Highlander vehicles in Canada. Approximately 3,960 vehicles are involved in this recall.

The subject vehicles are equipped with a feature that stops and restarts the engine. Under certain driving patterns and vehicle conditions, this feature may not operate correctly resulting in a vehicle stall. If a vehicle stall occurs, an audible chime will sound and multiple warning indicators will illuminate. If a vehicle stall occurs while driving at higher speeds, this could increase the risk of a crash.

For all involved vehicles, Toyota dealers will reflash the engine control unit (ECU) at no cost.

Owners of involved vehicles will be notified by mid-May 2020.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is subject to change over time.  For the most up-to-date Safety Recall information on Toyota and Lexus vehicles, customers should check their vehicle’s status by visiting Toyota.ca/recall or Lexus.ca/recall and entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
