Four or six? A choice of engines
The 2009 Toyota Camry is offered with a choice of two engines. The LE and SE models are equipped with Toyota’s proven 2.4 litre four-cylinder engine featuring 16 valves, balance shafts, variable valve timing with intelligence and a stainless steel exhaust system. This compact but powerful four-cylinder engine delivers up to 158HP @ 6,000 RPM and up to 161lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 RPM.
The V6 Camry models (LE V6, SE V6 and XLE V6) are fitted with a powerful yet efficient 3.5 litre V6 with 24 valves, dual variable valve timing with intelligence (on both the intake and exhaust cams), a variable induction system and acoustic control induction system, and a dual stainless steel exhaust. The 3.5 litre V6 produces up to 268HP @ 6,200 RPM and up to 248lb-ft of torque @ 4,700 RPM.
Both engines feature lightweight aluminum alloy blocks, dual overhead cams, sequential multi-port fuel injection, and an electronic throttle control system with intelligence. Regardless of engine size, all 2009 Camry models qualify as emissions-friendly Tier 2 Bin 5 vehicles.
