Twelve new or revised Toyota and Scion vehicles to launch in Canada before the end of 2012, with half of those to be unveiled over the next three months

Annual dealer show focuses on strengthened Toyota and Scion leadership in quality, safety, fuel efficiency, hybrid technology, making Toyota the company offering more small, fun-to-drive cars than any manufacturer.
(LAS VEGAS, NV) - Following the adversity of the Japan earthquake and tsunami last March, Toyota has now met the challenge of rebuilding, has returned to full production, and is moving forward with a clear focus on “the now and the new,” led by one of the most sustained roll-outs of new products in the company’s history.
Speaking Wednesday at the company’s annual new vehicle introduction show in Las Vegas, Toyota Canada President Yoichi Tomihara told Toyota and Scion dealers from across the country that they can expect launches for six new Toyota and Scion vehicles over the next three months, plus another six launches before the end of next year.
“Thanks to the commitment of Toyota customers, associates and suppliers worldwide, Toyota has overcome adversity and in Canada, outpaced industry sales during August,” said Mr. Tomihara. “Now, as we look ahead, Toyota Motor Company President Akio Toyoda is committed to bringing the most relevant vehicles to the Canadian market - putting passion at the heart of our line up.”
Between now and year-end, Canadians can look forward to the following new vehicle introductions (manufacturer suggested retail pricing and specification available closer to launch dates):
  • Scion iQ, which promises to inspire youthful urban drivers as the world’s smallest four-seater, with a class-leading 11 airbags and 94-horsepower, 1.3-litre engine that gets great fuel economy;
  • Yaris Hatchback, which will turn heads with a distinctive and contemporary look, complete with sport bumpers, integrated fog lamps, unique front grill, chrome tipped exhaust, and a colour-keyed rear spoiler;
  • Camry, which offers best-in-class fuel economy, in a modern design featuring crisp handling and performance and an upscale, soft-touch interior that is accented by real stitching on the dash, all complemented by an available voice-activated audio and navigation system that means drivers never need to take their hands off the steering wheel to control key audio and navigation functions;
  • Camry Hybrid, which will redefine the hybrid experience thanks to a hybrid system that generates the equivalent of 200 horsepower and for city driving is 39 per cent more fuel efficient than the current generation, with no compromise on any other facet of the vehicle;
  • Tacoma, which will bring more of the rugged looks and features pickup drivers love, such as additional towing power on V6 4X4 SR models and water-repellant materials on TRD models; and,
  • Prius v, which will deliver an unbeatable combination as the most fuel-efficient SUV, crossover or wagon in the market today while also leading the way in versatility, as it can be configured to meet a range of customer needs through special features such as SUV-like cargo carrying capacity that is over 50 per cent greater than the current-generation Prius.
“These vehicles - and the others we’ll be rolling out in 2012 - are all about strengthening our leadership in quality and safety, fuel efficiency, hybrid technology and customer value. We are committed to selling vehicles that inspire - fun-to-drive vehicles that go beyond the practical to the aspirational, with exciting styling and performance,” said Mr. Tomihara, who added that Toyota will offer 10 small cars, which is more than any other manufacturer.
