TOYOTA ANNOUNCES VOLUNTARY SAFETY CAMPAIGN ON CERTAIN 2011 RAV4 VEHICLES
Toronto, ON – January 31, 2012 -- Toyota Canada Inc. will conduct a Voluntary Safety Campaign on 92 RAV4 vehicles sold in Canada. No other Toyota or Lexus vehicles are involved in this campaign. No injuries or accidents have been reported related to this condition.
On a small number of RAV4 vehicles, the side curtain airbag initiator contains the incorrect propellant specification. In this condition, the inflator may not perform properly, causing one or both side curtain airbags to not deploy in the event of a crash, which could increase the risk of injury to an occupant.
All known owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail in March to return their vehicle to a Toyota dealership. The dealership will check the Vehicle Identification Number to identify the side curtain airbag assemblies to be replaced and replace one or both of the assemblies at no charge.
