Toyota Canada associates, dealers, customers across Canada engage in Earth Week activities

Toyota’s vision for the future all about environmental responsibility – from designing and manufacturing vehicles to day-to-day corporate operations to investing in community efforts

(TORONTO) – As a leader in environmental sustainability, Toyota is proud to offer a more fuel efficient, more powerful and more affordable than ever before line-up of eco-friendly hybrid vehicles for Canadians.

Celebrating those vehicles is an important part of how Toyota Canada is commemorating Earth Week this year, complementing an array of special initiatives being undertaken that demonstrate how Toyota’s values and vision for the future are driven by doing what we can to reduce our impact on our planet.

“In a recent Millward Brown study of Canadian new vehicle intenders, almost half of those under the age of 25 would consider a hybrid as their next vehicle choice; that's more than any other age demographic in the study,” said Stephen Beatty, Managing Director at Toyota Canada Inc. “That’s encouraging for the planet and for Toyota. It means the next generation of car buyers are looking to advanced technology like hybrids for their next purchase. We are proud to be able to say that Toyota has the most fuel efficient passenger car fleet in Canada, according to the most recent Transport Canada CAFC results for the 2010 model year.”

Beatty added that in everything Toyota does, the company strives to be a leader in environmental sustainability.

“It applies to how we design, engineer and manufacture vehicles, how we operate our dealerships and offices, and how we work with our stakeholders and local communities to help them as well,” he said.  “Earth Week gives us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate what we do each and every day.”

This week, special activities are taking place each day, with the momentum sustained right through until next Monday (April 23). Some highlights include:
