Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain Toyota vehicles

TORONTO, Ontario – July 7, 2023 – Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain 2023 model year Toyota Tundra, Tundra Hybrid and 2023 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid vehicles in Canada. Approximately 94 vehicles are involved in this recall in Canada.

The subject vehicles have a spare tire carrier assembly which uses a steel chain to secure the spare tire to the underside of the vehicle. The chain links may have been improperly welded. Under certain conditions, these chain links could break at any time, allowing the spare tire to detach from the vehicle. If this occurs while the vehicle is being driven, a detached spare tire can become a road hazard to other drivers/vehicles and increase the risk of a crash.

For all involved vehicles, the dealers will replace the spare tire carrier assembly with a new one at no cost.

Toyota will notify affected owners about this issue by early September 2023.

Information about automotive recalls, including but not limited to the list of involved vehicles, is current as of today’s filing date and is subject to change thereafter.
